Navy chief, Adm Choengchai Chomchoengpaet, has ordered the setting up of a committee to investigate the circumstances surrounding the sinking of HTMS Sukhothai.
The navy on Wednesday deployed a remotely controlled SeaFox mine disposal vehicle to take photos of the sunken corvette HTMS Sukhothai and help plan for its salvage, as the search continued for 23 missing members of the crew.
The navy is prepared to pull out of its submarine purchase project with China if the conditions of the procurement are unfavourable, the navy commander-in-chief said on Tuesday.
The Royal Thai Navy (RTN) is expected to hold talks with China Shipbuilding & Offshore International Co (CSOC) by early next month about a proposed engine for the S26T Yuan-class submarine being built for the navy, said navy chief Adm Choengchai Chomchoengpaet.
