Creating stunning black and white photos with ease - Amateur Photographer

Creating stunning black and white photos with ease February 26, 2021 When it comes to converting images to black & white there are lots of options available to you. Over the next few pages we’ll explore some of the best tools for black & white in Adobe’s photography range. Whether you use Lightroom, Photoshop or Elements, here you’ll find advice not just on how to convert, but also how to fine-tune the look of your monochrome images. Before conversion… Often this is more than just about removing the colour, it’s also about tweaking the conversion, controlling the contrast, adjusting the shadows and highlights, and selectively dodging and burning. These tools are not difficult to master, and even an image-editing novice can make stunning monochrome photos in minutes.

Range Masks in Lightroom (They re Awesome!)

Let’s break these down: Range, masks, Lightroom. 1) Lightroom, of course, is the best workflow software for the photographer. If you shoot a lot of photos, even smartphone photos, Lightroom can be useful. (But why use only a smartphone if you love taking photos? Use a DSLR camera, or one of those mirrorless wonders! But I digress.) The point is: Lightroom is the best workflow app if you shoot photos. 2) Masks. This is how you select areas in your photos, much like selections in Photoshop. You mask an area – use any of the local adjustment tools in Lightroom (Graduated Filter, Radial Filter, or the Adjustment Brush) – and apply your edits to that area (exposure, texture, saturation, etc.).
