A front page story in The Fiji Times on March 9 1978 read the Government House was going to adopt an orphan.
The report stated the Governor General’s daughter, Adi Litia Kaunilotuma Cakobau, was restless after reading about orphans in this newspaper and asked her parents if she could adopt one.
It read the Government House was a hive of activity and excitement as it prepared to welcome home an adopted child.
The baby was no ordinary one as she was one of five orphans mentioned by The Fiji Times weeks before.
