Christmas and New Year bin changes in Bolton

There will be no collection on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year s Day. During December more than one million bins are expected to be emptied. If your normal collection date is Christmas Day then bins will be collected on Monday, December 28. For the week beginning Monday, December 28, for those expecting collections on the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, all collections will be one day later than normal. For those expecting collection on Thursday, December 31, collections will be on Saturday, January 2 and for those whose bins are due on New Year’s Day the collections will be on Monday, January 4. For the week commencing Monday, January 4 all collections will be one day after the normal collection day with those expecting pick ups on Friday, January 8 having a collection on Saturday, January 9.

Former rough sleeper who has turned his life around issues warning not to give money to beggars

A FORMER rough sleeper who has turned his life around is urging people not to give money to those begging on the streets. Dean Paul, who would make £300 in a weekend through begging, says the money can be simply be used to support drug habits Dean, aged 41, said: “Don’t give beggars money. People who give money think they’re helping but they’re not – they are supporting drug habits and feeding a dealer’s pocket.” He added: When I was begging, the money wasn’t for food – it was just for drugs. “I was a prolific beggar and had the gift of the gab. I was making anything from £75 to £150 a day and making £300 a weekend in Bolton town centre.”
