A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokeswoman said it was determined the fire was caused by an electrical malfunction of one of the factory s control boxes. Before it was destroyed, the factory was able to produce more than 30,000 pizzas a day for supermarkets across New Zealand. Woolston station officer Nick Brown earlier said the factory collapsed in the fire because the walls were made of aluminium and polystyrene. “The polystyrene melts and the strength has gone.”
