The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), has called on South-West leaders to consider the Yorubas living in the northern region of the country in issuing quit notices to northerners.
The Muslim Group also challenged security agencies to arrest criminal herdsmen in the South-West.
This was contained in a statement titled, ‘Herdsmen versus Yoruba: MURIC calls for dialogue’. by MURIC Director, Prof. Ishaq Akintola, on Sunday.
The Director called for dialogue between the Fulanis and Yorubas, advising the Federal Government to apply caution in handling the situation.
The statement in part reads, “The Igangan incident must be condemned by all lovers of peace. But at the same time, we cannot close our eyes to the pain and suffering of farmers and indigenes of the area whom criminals see as soft targets for kidnapping, armed robbery, etc”.
