Protest Rocks Oyo State As Isese Traditional Practitioners, Activists Demand Immediate Release Of Tani Olohun

Some traditional religion worshippers and revolutionary activists on Thursday morning protested in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital to demand the immediate release of one of their members  Adegbola Abdulazeez, also known as Tani Olohun. In videos seen by SaharaReporters, the protesters were seen with different placards urging the Oyo State Government under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde to intervene on the matter.

A Kwara State Upper Area Court in Ilorin on Monday morning granted bail to Adegbola Abdulazeez, an Isese (indigenous religion) practitioner and activist, also known as Tani Olohun.   SaharaReporters gathered that the court gave the ruling after listening to the arguments of all parties on the merit or otherwise of the application filed by the applicant, ruling that bail is granted to Tani Olohun on condition that he gets two sureties who will provide N5 million each and proof of landed properties in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.  

Kwara Court Adjourns Ruling On Isese Religion Activist, Tani Olohun s Bail Application

On Wednesday, Kwara State Upper Area Court in Ilorin adjourned the ruling on the bail application filed by Adegbola Abdulazeez, an Isese (indigenous religion) practitioner and activist, also known as Tani Olohun. The hearing was adjourned to September 25, 2023. This comes about 24 hours after a Chief Magistrate Court in the state refused Tani Olohun’s bail application in another matter. SaharaReporters gathered that the Upper Area granted bail to the second defendant, Baba Oluwo Tede, but ordered Tani Oluhun to remain in prison until the next adjourned date.

    Adedamola Solesi, a lawyer representing Adegbola Abdulazeez, a remanded Isese (indigenous religion) practitioner and activist, has said his client cannot get justice in Ilorin, Kwara State.   Mr Solesi, who said this on Tuesday after the hearing of his client’s bail application at the Kwara State Chief Magistrate Court, lamented that the manner by which trial judges and security operatives in the state had handled Tani Olohun’s case indicated that the judiciary and the police had been compromised.
