LAGOS THE Legislative Arm of Surulere local government area of Lagos State has sealed the office of suspended council Chairman, Mr. Tajudeen Ajide, over alleged misappropriation of funds and abuse of office.
The decision, which was collectively made by all the nine councillors in the council, also witnessed the appointment of the Vice-Chairman, Mr. Sulaimon Yussuf, in acting capacity to prevent a vacuum in the administration of local government affairs.
The councillors hinted that they have also written to the Area C Police Command to intimate him of their resolution.
In a statement, the Legislative Arm said: “Further to our resolution which suspended the Executive Chairman, Mr. Tajudeen Ajide. The Vice-Chairman, Mr. Sulaimon Yussuf, should immediately take over the Administration of the Local Government to prevent a vacuum in Administration of the Local Government.”

The Surulere Local Government Councillors have sealed off the office of the suspended council chairman, Mr. Tajudeen Ajide, over alleged misappropriation of funds and abuse of office.
The legislators also appointed the Vice-Chairman, Mr. Sulaimon Yussuf as the acting chairman to prevent a vacuum in the administration of local government affairs.
The councillors hinted, through a statement issued to newsmen on Tuesday, that they have also written to the Area C Police Command to intimate the command of their resolution.

The Chairman, Surulere Local Government, Lagos State, Tajudeen Ajide, has been suspended for alleged financial impropriety.
This is according to a letter sent to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police by the nine councillors at the local government.
The suspension, according to the councillors, is sequel to a resolution dated April 9, 2021 wherein a vote of no confidence was passed in Ajide.
The names of the councillors include: Akande Barakat, Adebisi David, Fasasi Ajenifuja, Phillips Olubunmi, Otinwa Eric, Ijitola Oluwasegun, Ajala Ajibola, Kareem Abiodun and Kazeem Bello.
They asked both the police commissioner and the area commander, Area C, to deploy policemen in the local government secretariat to prevent hoodlums from attacking them.

The Legislative Arm of Surulere Local Government Area of Lagos State has suspended the council Chairman, Mr Tajudeen Ajide over misappropriation of funds and abuse of office on several occasions.
The decision, which was collectively made by all the nine Councillors in the council, was said to enable them to conclude their investigations.
In a statement issued at the end of its plenary session on Friday, 9th April 2021 which was signed by all the Councillors, Ajide was said to have refused to make available documents of all contracts from the inceptive of his administration.
