Conservative, Labour and Green councillors have criticised the move to only re-open 90 venues across the city while facilities including Whiteinch Library and the tennis and basketball courts in Victoria Park remain closed. The tennis and basketball courts are one of several facilities where there is interest in a community asset transfer. Whiteinch Community Council is demanding that a full service, comparable to other city libraries is provided from the same B-listed building near Victoria Park.
Bill Kidd won the election for the SNP with 17,501 votes. Eva Murray for Labour was runner up winning 10,913 votes. The Tories were in third with Ade Aibinu winning 3688 votes and the LibDems Mark Simonns in fourth with 1062. Kidd said: Being elected again is something I m extremely proud of. It s wahat I was hoping for but you can never be sure. What we have to do is ensure this is built on by the SNP and go forward for an independence referendum following these elections. Both the SNP and Labour added to their votes from 2016, while the Tories dropped votes. Turnout for Anniesland was 58.7%
