Democrats stage COVID-19 rescue that s less rescue, more boondoggle

Democrats just can’t help themselves when it comes to using people using suffering people, particularly to achieve partisan wins. They do it with children and school closings. They do it with Blacks and abortion. They do it with the mentally ill and transgenderism and sex-reassignment surgery. They do it with the coronavirus and anything and everything they can toss into a stimulus bill. You want your $1,400 check, America? Well then, get the Republicans on board with $50 million in “grants, contracts and other agency activities that implement the environmental justice purposes and objectives” from the executive order signed by Bill Clinton called, “Federal Actions to Address Environmental Justice in Minority Populations and Low-Income Populations.”

Biden Administration Advances Climate Change Agenda

Wednesday, February 17, 2021 It’s no secret that President Biden plans to prioritize action on climate change. During his presidential campaign, Biden identified climate change as one of his top four priorities, and announced he would seek to put the U.S. on a path towards “net-zero” greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. In the few weeks since his inauguration, President Biden has taken a suite of actions aimed at making good on that promise. Overview Within hours of his inauguration, President Biden had acted to bring the U.S. back into the Paris Agreement and signed Executive Order 13990, “ Protecting Public Health and the Environment and Restoring Science to Tackle the Climate Crisis.” Among other things, that order revoked a key permit issued for the Keystone XL oil pipeline and ordered a review of actions taken under the Trump administration. One week later, the Biden Administration hosted “climate day” at the White House, where he described a “governm

Issues Of The Environment: Commemorating 30 Years Of The Environmental Justice Movement

Overview It is widely recognized that the environmental justice movement first gained traction in 1982 in a predominately African-American community in Warren County, North Carolina.  University of Michigan professors Bunyan Bryant (a graduate of EMU) and Paul Mohai were pioneers in the movement.  Bunyan Bryant who in 1972 had become the first African American to join the SNRE faculty attended a meeting at the Federation of Southern Cooperative in Sumter County.  Shortly after, he joined with Professor Mohai in Ann Arbor. In the early 1990s, during the Clinton years, it was the period when the environmental justice concept “hit the radar” of the EPA and federal government.  Professors Byrant and Mohai led a team of academics and activists to advise the U.S. EPA on environmental justice policy. Drs. Bryant and Mohai published

FERC Finally Empowers Environmental Justice Advocates and Public Health Experts

FERC Finally Empowers Environmental Justice Advocates and Public Health Experts Feb 16, 2021 FERC (the Federal Energy Regulatory Agency) wields tremendous power in the environmental justice area, due to its leading role in approving interstate pipelines and transmission lines for gas, oil, and electricity. All too often that power has been shunted aside, but the agency finally appears ready to flex its justice muscles at the onset of the Biden administration. FERC asleep at the wheel on environmental justice Because FERC has an interstate mission, its direct impact on energy infrastructure is limited. For example, FERC does not regulate coal mines or other local energy infrastructure such as fossil fuel power plants. The agency also does not oversee nuclear power plants or the transportation of coal.
