The victim and suspect were at the scene, where the vehicle had caught on fire. They reportedly traveled to Houma from Texas over the weekend.   Perez was originally a passenger in the car when he demanded that the victim drive him back to Texas, authorities said. When the victim didn’t comply, police said the suspect pulled out a knife and threatened and struck him on the face.
