Houma man charged in carjacking investigation

Adan Perez, 29, is charged with aggravated kidnapping and carjacking, the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office said.
Authorities were called out around 1 a.m. to U.S. 90 West near the Amelia Bridge to investigate a reported carjacking. The victim and suspect were at the scene, where the vehicle had caught on fire. They reportedly traveled to Houma from Texas over the weekend.
Perez was originally a passenger in the car when he demanded that the victim drive him back to Texas, authorities said. When the victim didn’t comply, police said the suspect pulled out a knife and threatened and struck him on the face.
