Subscriber only RIPLEY Valley FC head coach Nick Paterson is scouting new players after an injury crisis at the Capital League 1 club. Ripley Valley have 15 players sidelined across their two senior squads already this season with nine of those first-team footballers. I ve only got 17 fit players available for two squads this weekend, Paterson said. It s not ideal. However, Paterson was hopeful of securing some extra back-up preparing for Sunday night s latest CL1 clash against Pine Hills at South Ripley. I ve always said from the get-go there s going to be no runaway favourites in this league, Paterson said.

Subscriber only HAVING played in 10 or 12 local derbies for different clubs over many years, Adam O Sullivan knows why they provide so much football appeal. It s something different, O Sullivan said preparing for Friday night s latest clash between his current club Ripley Valley and a former team Ipswich City Bulls. It s all about enthusiasm and it s about you ve got to work harder. There s just something more about them. You try to give that extra 10 per cent. You never want to lose one. In recent seasons, the local derbies in Ipswich have lost some of their past importance with new players from outside the region coming into teams like Western Spirit.

Subscriber only RIPLEY Valley will test their depth early in Friday night s local derby against the Ipswich City Bulls. With some injury concerns and player unavailability, head coach Nick Paterson was keen to see how his extended squad fares at Sutton Park in their next game. Ripley Valley and the Bulls will clash in the third round Capital League 1 encounter having both lost their latest matches. But while the Bulls were outclassed in their 6-2 defeat to Moggill on Saturday night, Paterson had mixed feelings about his team s 2-0 loss to Annerley. Bitterly disappointed (not to win) as we played really well, Paterson said.
