2 bodies found in separate incidents 1 found in apartment after fire, other in ditch Journal Gazette Fort Wayne and Allen County officials are investigating two separate deaths discovered Monday. City firefighters found a man dead about 8:30 a.m. Monday in an apartment at 3444 E. State Blvd. Firefighters were called after the man was found unconscious. Deputy Fire Chief Adam O’Connor said investigators determined there had been a fire in the apartment, but the fire was out when firefighters arrived. Investigators believe the fire was accidental, and no foul play was suspected in the man’s death, O’Connor said. The coroner’s office will identify the victim and cause of death after an autopsy.

Man falls through ice on St. Marys, rescued JAMIE DUFFY | The Journal Gazette The Fort Wayne Fire Department rescued a man after he fell through the ice crossing the St. Marys River Wednesday night.  The victim, age unknown, was crossing the river at Swinney Park about 6:20 p.m. Wednesday when a driver noticed him and called 911, according to Deputy Fire Chief Adam O Connor said.  Firefighter Isaac Keller, under the direction of Lt. Eric Zeiger, donned an ice rescue suit, slid across the ice and pulled the victim from the hole, O Connor said.  “He was conscious, breathing on his own and was taken to the hospital to be treated for hypothermia. He was probably in the water for less than 10 minutes,” O Connor said.

18 students from all over Kildare awarded scholarships to DCU Reporter:   ); A total of 18 Kildare students have been awarded a €500 Academic Scholarship to study at Dublin City University. The scholarships were awarded to the following students in recognition of them achieving 550 points or more in the Leaving Certificate.  The students are:  Seán Byrne and Adam O’Connor, both former pupils of Salesian College, are studying Engineering and Aviation Management respectively Ben McInerney and Mikhail Sedyshev are past pupils of Patrician Secondary School. Ben is studying Accounting and Finance and Mikhail is studying Global Business (Germany) Claire Sweeney, a past pupil of Holy Family Secondary School, is studying Accounting and Finance
