KANSAS CITY, Mo. â One Harrison County deputy is accused of destroying evidence between April 2019 and March 2020, according to court documents 41 Action News obtained.
Kevin D. Lawson, 44, is charged with two counts of tampering with evidence and one count of tampering with a public record.
Cpl. Adam McAtee with the Highway Patrol Division of Drug and Crime Control began investigating allegations against the Harrison County Sheriff s Office last June.
On Tuesday, the Trenton Police Department confirmed that one of their officers was under investigation for messaging a minor; meanwhile, the Missouri State Highway Patrol was interviewing a 16-year-old about an alleged rape.
Michael Wilson, a 25-year-old police officer, was charged with statutory rape after that interview on Dec. 9. He was fired from the Trenton Police Department the same day.
âThe female disclosed on or about Sept. 3. (the incident) took place at Mr. Wilsonâs residence, located inside the city limits of Trenton,â Cpl. Adam McAtee, of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, wrote in a probable cause affidavit. âThe female advised she disclosed her age to Mr. Wilson prior to (the incident).â
