Gaston moving off west, northwest at 21 Miles Per Hour. Expected to strengthen into a hurricane but were not expecting this to impact florida and likely not even the u. S. As it makes the open atlantic. And what were watching more closely is the tropical wave, invest 99l, you can see the Spaghetti Models bringing the storm to the north and west. And by the weekend, you can see its moving in the direction of florida. So its still a ways away. Right now, not a tropical depression. Not a named storm. But theres a 60 chance of development, especially towards the end of this week. And we have the Hurricane Hunters out today investigating was, its still very disorganized. Just a tropical wave. Five cases announced by the governor today. One, in Pinellas County. The state is calling that case nontravel related. Not travel related means that they have not gone to a place where there transmission. Reporter the governor told us today they are still working to find out how they got the virus. You have to start doing are the teenist strategic testing. Reporter and they want to assure tourists that florida is safe. We have to be aggressive anywhere. Everybody has to be aggressive with no standing water. Reporter that is why im standing here next to a public sports complex. Old tires can collect water, breed mosquitoes. The Parks Department definitely need to do something about that mess over there. So right now we dont know where the person contracted this. We are not sure how this person picked it up

Reporter officials are not telling us where that person living in Pinellas County, only that a person here in Pinellas County does have the zika virus and they didnt contract it by traveling to any known hot zones including miami. It is the news we never hope to hear. The zika virus in our own backyards. Governor rick scott revealed the latest case of nontravel related zika in Pinellas County. We only have two areas we believe have local transmission. Reporter the question remains where did that person contract the virus . At this point, we dont know that it happened in Pinellas County. The question the city purchased 3,600 dunks, thats the giant chemical tablets that kill the mosquito larva for up to 30 days. The city is not responsible for mosquito control, its the countys job but bob buckhorn says with the public crisis in miami they cant sit back and wait to act. There are 4,000 abandoned properties in tampa and getting the dunks to treat pools or wherever water collects will be a challenge. Clearly it would make all the sense in the world.
