Orta should look to bring West Brom ‘magician’ to Leeds if £17.5m rumour is true

West Bromwich Albion have given their hopes of survival a shot in the arm, but relegation still looks likely for the Baggies.
Wins over Chelsea and Southampton have been welcome surprises, though Sam Allardyce’s men remain eight points adrift of safety with just seven games to play.
It’s still looking likely that West Brom will go down, and UOL Esporte in Brazil claim that the Baggies are already preparing to sell off ‘magician’ Matheus Pereira for around €20million (£17.5million).

In a scarcely believable game, Chelsea were systematically picked off by the second worst team in the league in a way no other team have done. And West Brom were arguably the better team even before Thiago Silva’s sending off, too.
As has been the case in most games against “smaller” teams, Chelsea struggled to create chances when the game was level. Christian Pulisic opened the scoring after Alonso hit the woodwork from a free-kick, before Chelsea capitulated late in the first half. From thereon, it was a case of West Brom putting up the performance of their lives, executing every counter-attack with clinical precision.

Some West Brom fans on social media have been full of praise for Matt Phillips after their 5-2 win against Chelsea.
The Baggies had an afternoon to remember against Chelsea, and to be honest, there were 11 players on the pitch who deserved all the praise in the world from the fans.
However, one man who was the centre of attention in the eyes of a number of supporters was Phillips.
The Scotland international constantly had the beating of Marcos Alonson down that wing, and while he didn’t get his name on the scoresheet, he was imperative to Albion’s performance.

Kieran Gibbs is set to leave West Bromwich Albion when his contract expires, with ESPN reporting the long-serving left-back has agreed to join MLS newcomers Inter Miami.
The 31-year-old defender is hardly the kind of marquee signing that would spark wild scenes on the picturesque beaches of America’s east coast.
But, if a club owned by David Beckham and managed by Phil Neville want to add an experienced, reliable presence to a squad that finished near the bottom of the table in their debut top-flight season, Gibbs may prove an inspired addition.
