Customers have started to filter into a huge new Lidl store in Hove after the supermarket opened its doors for the first time today. The Argus visited the site at the Goldstone Retail Park this morning, and was met with many of the features that have seen the chain become so successful. A bakery section was filled to the brim with breads, cakes, pastries and more, while pristine aisles were lined with the usual assortment of fresh food, cans and jars. A new Lidl supermarket has been opened at the Goldstone Retail Park in Hove And, in the centre of the store, the heralded Middle of Lidl aisle has been installed.

The store has a sales area which covers about 1,727 square metres and will feature facilities including an in-store bakery, customer toilets and ample parking for cars and bicycles . From today, it will be open between 8am and 10pm from Monday to Saturday, and between 11am and 5pm on Sundays. Work has started to build a new Lidl store.
Planning permission was granted for the supermarket in London Road, Ditton, last August.

The build is expected to take 10 months, with a view to opening the store in autumn 2021.
It will create around 40 new jobs and will have 1,068sqm of sales area.
The new branch will include a bakery, toilets and two electric vehicle charging spaces, as well as solar panels.
Lidl s regional head of property, Adam Forsdick, said: âThereâs been much anticipation for this new Lidl store and itâs great that we are now in a position to start construction.
