By Lucy Battersby Resolute Mining’s problems in Ghana continue, with the Chinese company that wanted to buy its Bibiani Gold Mine walking away from the $US108 million deal following a mining licence dispute with the local government. Chifeng Jilong Gold Mining Company agreed to buy the mine in December last year, however in March Resolute was told the Ghanaian Minister for Lands and Natural Resources has revoked its licence at the Bibiani mine without notice or explanation. It now appears the government’s main concern was Chifeng taking control of the mine. Resolute was able to restore the licence on 14 April, but on the condition the Ghanian government did not recognise the sale to Chifeng and would need to approve any future sales or transfers to a third party.
