Police assist incapacitated citizens
ELLSWORTH A traffic stop on April 14 ended with one teenager summoned and her passenger taken to Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital. Office McKay McLean was conducting the traffic stop when he was told that a passenger was in the midst of a drug overdose. McLean escorted the car to the hospital, where the person was treated. He also summoned 18-year-old Beaudie Jipson of Seal Cove on charges of illegal transportation of alcohol by a minor and operating a vehicle without a license.
Police also were called to the China Hill parking lot on April 14 for a report of a heavily intoxicated man sitting in his car. He was taken home by taxi.

Vandals target auto dealership
ELLSWORTH Darling’s Auto Mall reported several new vehicles being damaged by vandals and is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone involved. The incident at the Kingsland Crossing dealership occurred late on March 26 or early on March 27.
Information should be reported to the Ellsworth Police Department’s tip line at 669-6699. Any tips received “will be held in the strictest confidence allowable,” according to an April 2 post on the Darling’s Facebook page, as will the identity of the person reporting, if he or she prefers to remain anonymous. The reward expires on May 31.
Officers help area residents in crisis
Ellsworth Police Log Week of March 18
ELLSWORTH Police responded to separate reports of two local residents suffering mental health issues. Officer Adam Bouchard spoke with a person in crisis on March 12 who was subsequently taken to Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital for an evaluation. On March 14, Officer Amie Torrey responded to a report of a woman with a knife. Torrey found the woman, who was then taken in for a mental health evaluation.
Harassment and threats
Officers are investigating a complaint of threatening that was reported on March 9.
Police received a report of threatening situation on March 10 from a resident who just wanted it documented with no action taken.
