The sentencing guidelines on which the magistrates base their decisions only go up to 150 and the Grzegorz Kozminski gave a reading of 155. Kozminski, 38, of Acre View, Bacup, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol on Newchurch Road, Bacup. He was sentenced to eight weeks in prison suspended for 18 months with a nine months alcohol treatment requirement and 15 days rehabilitation activity requirement.

Blackburn magistrates heard Laura Howatson believed her grandad was still alive but the new tenant was under the impression he had died and that was why he had been offered the plot. Laura Howatson, 35, of Greenhill, Great Harwood, pleaded guilty to arson causing £2,264 worth of damage to property belonging to Peter Key and possession of cannabis and, on a separate occasion, possession of an offensive weapon, a large knife. She was sent in custody to Burnley Crown Court to be sentenced on July 30.

Blackburn magistrates heard Scott Daniel Holden was also more than double the drink-drive limit when he was stopped in the early hours of the morning. Holden, 33, of Blackburn Road, Great Harwood, pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified and without insurance and with excess alcohol. He was remanded on bail until July 23 for the preparation of a pre-sentence report. Adam Bonney, prosecuting, said Holden was disqualified for 18 months on June 3 for failing to provide a sample. On Sunday a police patrol saw a car on Burnley Road, Accrington, and the police national computer gave an indication of a possible disqualified driver.
