adam 100. these particular closed custody inmates are very special management. they re in this pod segregated for a reason. you ve always got to stay on your toes when you re around them. the final factor in the unprecedented decision to isolate four women in a unit large enough for 32 came after one of them viciously attacked another inmate. the attacker was cynthia apkaw. apkaw is extremely violent. she severely assaulted that inmate to the point she needed facial reconstructive surgery. wow. so that s why we do what we do now, for the precautions of these people. she disrespected me so i beat the crap out of her. i went out there and i beat her ass in the cell and i pulled her out. dragged her in the middle of the hall and started beating the [ bleep ] out of her. told her she wants to talk with
nonviolent crimes. they live in five indoor facilities. and in one of the facilities we came upon a high security housing unit that was like nothing we had encountered before. when you enter the jail facility which is where the women are housed within the maricopa county jail system, the vast majority are incarcerated in the with the exception of a maximum security unit. the unit within that unit is the adam 100 pod. adam 100 had space for 32, they held only four. i remember being briefed before going into the adam 100 squad about an evacuation plan. there will be two officers
sisters to heart. sister! rosie trevino who faces a possible death sentence if convicted on her murder charge is considered the unofficial leader of adam 100. we laugh and smile and talk and chop it up. you hear us. we are about each other. if you disrespect us, it s just we are pet we disrespect. they may be sisters and happy now because this is new digs for them and a new playground and they are trying to see what games they can play, the luster wears off. there is loyalty in here. you got to be selective with your few. if one were to cross each other, i m sure they would turn on each other instantly. there is nothing no jail that thick. one of the other adam 100 inmates, sing theory violently beat another inmate a few weeks ago and has not been allowed the
to prevent the passage of contraband. that s cute! she doesn t have much time left in adam 100. she recently accepted a plea in the aggravated assault case and will be transferred to state prison to begin a 2 1/2 year sentence. staff takes plenty of precaution whenever they deal with her. we are searching her cell and every time they are on an hour out, they get searched to make sure they didn t bring contraband or they didn t pass information. before long, contraband is found. inmates call this a fishing line. there is a lot of string there. there is probably enough to go from one end of the pod to another a couple of times around. they use it to move weapons from one cell or notes or things such as that. it looks harmless, if they are moving weapons back and forth,
