A Missouri man was sentenced to five years in prison Monday after pleading guilty to a stealing charge from an incident in Adair County.
Jonathan Prebe, 40, of Kansas City and formerly Knox County, received charges after stealing a vehicle from a local business on Sept. 12, 2020, according to a release issued by Adair County Prosecuting Attorney Matt Wilson.
Kirksville police and the Adair County Sheriff’s Office determined Prebe had used a truck rented from a business in Olathe, Kan. Officers worked with that rental company to figure out Prebe’s travels and began reviewing surveillance footage from businesses between Edina and Kansas City. The trailer used to transport the stolen vehicle was also found to belong to Prebe.
