Elizabethtown College Couple Have Scholarship Established in Their Memory

Elizabethtown College recently was gifted a $100,000 donation to establish a scholarship by the estate of Rear Admiral Philip O. Geib. The Amos Philip and Ada Mae (Oldham) Geib Endowed Scholarship will be set up in honor of the couple who both attended Etown. Amos, one of the earliest graduates of the College, earned his degree in 1909. “We are grateful to Amos Philip and Ada Mae Oldham Geib and their family for this generous scholarship to benefit students at Elizabethtown College,” Elizabethtown College President Cecilia M. McCormick, J.D. said. “The Geib’s demonstrate how our Blue Jay community feels the pull to make positive and meaningful impacts on the lives of others.”

Dec 11, 2020 James “Jim” Hubert Streets, of Martinsburg, surrounded by his family, went to be with the Lord on his 88th birthday. Born Dec. 1, 1932, in Elk Garden, he was the son of the late William and Gertrude (Hopengardner) Streets. On June 16, 1956, he married the love of his life Janet (Males) Streets. The two would spend the next 63 years building an amazing life together until Janet went to Heaven Sept. 28, 2019. They frequently traveled, visiting their favorite locations in Hawaii and Florida. His life was all about loving his family and making sure everyone had the best he could provide. He had a love for flying that started in his Air Force days and became a lifelong passion. He was an avid Disney fan. Disney World was one of his favorite vacation locations, entering the Magic Kingdom during the first week of its opening and continuing many times each year after that. He honestly believed Disney World was the happiest place on earth.
