is he running for president? joining us now business correspondent kristina alecia, good morning to you. who spends $22 million on tv ads and say i m not running? it is a sign he may jump into the race as soon as this week. but make no mistake, it is michael bloomberg flexing his financial fire power here. based on everything i know in my reporting, this $29 million ad buy is just the beginning. it is going to fire fire from especially progressive candidates in the race who don t want to see billionaires running, who say they are buying votes for example, bernie sanders reacting to this ad buy, saying in a statement, i m disgusted by the idea that michael bloomberg or any other been y billionaire thinks he can circumvent the political process and spend tens of millions of dollars to buy our elections. it is just another example of a rigged political system that
a little too late. melissa: this is the exact difference between a very successful business person and a politician. as a ceo you are saying, there are downsides to both peoples backsides. that s how i call that on this day. that s what a ceo would do but as a call at dema politician going well, now i see this is the amount on this day the ad buy is the same kind of thing where he s getting in there, trying to put his way into the race without actually getting involved and in that sense maybe this is a move it to be vice president, be a candidate, say i m going to be a spoiler unless somebody tells me i will get a position. harris: i guess the other question i would have andy: what i would team i don t understand, what is the operation of the mind i says i t
a stellar mayor, but it s going to be really difficult for him to jump in right now and now replace the thousands of conversation conversations many of the candidates have had with ad buys. there are limits to what money can do. we re seeing some of the limits of what money can do with other candidates. and so i think he s going to have his work cut out for him, if he jumps in. what do you think it changes in the democratic race? it s probably going to change the price of advertising. some of the early states and certainly mike has a very valuable perspective to offer. as an american, i m glad that he is looking at the race because he s an extraordinary leader and has done a lot for the country. you know what i m interested in? if he gets on the debate stage and you re there beside him, i m curious how you ll explain to michael bloomberg why he deserves to receive a thousand dollars a month of your universal basic income which is
