Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 23) Actress Angel Locsin and the Quezon City government on Friday vowed to extend help to the family of a man who died after standing in line at a crowded community pantry in the area.
In a statement, Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte said the LGU will shoulder the burial expenses and hand out financial assistance to the family of the 67 year-old man, who police reported went to the pantry organized by Locsin.
Initial investigation showed the victim fainted Friday while waiting for his turn at the pantry. He was rushed to the hospital, but was declared dead on arrival, police said.

Actress Angel Locsin on Friday said causing chaos and harm was not her intention in opening a community pantry in Barangay Holy Spirit in Quezon City and apologized for it.
“Hindi po ito ang gusto ko… Sa mga naabala ko po dito, pasensya na po, hindi po ito ang intensyon ko (This was not what I wanted. For those who I disturbed, I’m really sorry. That was not my intention),” she said in a video posted on her Facebook page.
“Pasensya po talaga, gusto ko lang po i-celebrate itong birthday ko sana… Hindi ko po intensyon na makagulo (I’m really sorry. I just wanted to celebrate my birthday. It was not my intention to cause chaos and disturbance),” she added.
In a statement on her Facebook page, Locsin said “what happened” was her “fault.”

“Ang nangyari po ay akin pong pagkakamali. Sana po’y wag madamay ang ibang community pantries na maganda po ang nangyari. Sa ngayon po (What happened is my fault. I hope that other community pantries will not be dragged into this. For now), I will prioritize helping the family and I will make it my responsibility to help them get through this,” she said Friday.

“Kanina po pinuntahan at nakapagusap po kami ng personal ng mga anak nya sa ospital. At habang buhay po ako hihingi ng patawad sa kanila (I went to the hospital earlier and talked personally to dela Cruz’ children. I will ask for their forgiveness while I’m still alive),” she said.
