The Polar Vortex has us under its control.. It may take two more full weeks for us to get out of this Arctic outbreak. I wish I had better news, and if there is a sign of any break in this cold wave, I will let you know. A warm up into the 40s or 50s is likely before the end of this month, but for now we have be prepared for an even stronger surge of Arctic air. The next blast is due in this weekend.
Snow extends from Oklahoma north to the North Pole. When you have a snow pack this deep, it is hard to get the air to modify. Here is the snow cover map as of last night:

Show Transcript YOU CAN SEE THE STORM SYSTEM THAT WILLIE MOVING INTO THE REGION. PRIMARILY RAIN IN AND AROUND PITTSBURGH. AS WE TAKE A LOOK, MOST OF THIS IS GOING TO PUSH THROUGH BY THE TIME WE GET INTO THE EARLY MORNING HOURS ON FRIDAY. THIS IS THE COLD FRONT THAT WILL BE MOVING ACROSS THE AREA AND WILL SEND TEMPERATURES DOWN AS WE HEAD THROUGH FRIDAY. OCCASIONAL SNOW SHOWERS LATER ON ON FRIDAY AND SATURDAY MORNING. WE COULD HAVE A SNOW SHOWER SOUTH, BUT THAT IS PRE-MUCH IT. ON SUNDAY, WE WILL HAVE SNOW SHOWERS IN THE AREA FOR JUST ABOUT EVERYBODY. BY 9:00, RAIN AND SNOW MOVING THROUGH INTO THE OVERNIGHT HOURS. THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS ALSO SNOW AND 6:00, THAT’S PRETTY MUCH THE END OF IT BUT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT RAIN IN AND AROUND PITTSBURGH AND YOU CAN STILL SEE SOME SNOW.
