Authorities assess Tropical Storm Eloise damage in KZN Updated

Provincial authorities say they are still assessing the extent of the damage caused by tropical storm Eloise in the northern parts of KZN.

Acting Transport and Community Safety MEC Kwazi Mshengu says infrastructure in Zululand, Umkhanyakude and King Cetshwayo district municipalities has been affected.
Departmental spokesperson, Gugu Sisilana, MEC Mshengu said many roads and bridges in the province have been damaged by the heavy rain resulting in some roads being completely closed with limited access to communities, social, health and economic facilities.
So far no major accidents resulting in multiple fatalities on our roads have been reported due to the continuing heavy downpour but we are concerned by the high number of crashes that occurred especially on N3 and N2.
