Barrack, 74, of Santa Monica, was arrested in the Southland Tuesday in connection with a seven-count federal indictment unsealed in New York. He is expected to appear in court in downtown Los Angeles on Monday.

In a seven-count grand jury indictment, unsealed in a New York federal court, Barrack, 74, and two others are accused of acting and conspiring to act as agents of the UAE between April 2016 and April 2018, but without registering as foreign agents. Barrack, 74, of Santa Monica, was named in a seven-count indictment unsealed today in New York, along with Matthew Grimes, 27, of Aspen, Colorado, and Rashid Sultan Rashid Al Malik Alshahhi, 43, a UAE national, according to the Department of Justice. Barrack and Grimes were both arrested in California and were expected to appear in federal court in downtown Los Angeles sometime Tuesday afternoon, according to the DOJ. Alshahhi remains at large.
