Community invited to virtual Ramadan event

Muslim Davis Engagement and Interfaith Network invites the community to participate in a virtual Ramadan event from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 29. Ramadan is the month where Muslims fast from dawn to dusk.
Normally, Muslim DEIN holds a community iftar (end-of-the-day breaking of a fast) and invites the community to share a meal. At this year’s virtual event, called, “Fasting Across Faiths,” participants will hear not only about how Muslims fast during Ramada, but how people from other faiths like Sikh, Buddhist, Jewish and Christian fast as part of their traditions.
After the event, Muslim DEIN will share a collection of recipes from presenters of different faiths recipes of meals that they enjoy to break their fasts.
Survivors, religious leaders and dignitaries from Pennsylvania will come together virtually to commemorate and reflect upon the Holocaust this Thursday.
In an effort to share their experiences across the commonwealth while safeguarding the health of health of participants and the community as a whole during the pandemic, the Pennsylvania Jewish Coalition – has opted to host the 2021 Pennsylvania Civic Commemoration of the Holocaust as an online event at 11 a.m. on April 8.
This Thursday marks Holocaust Remembrance Day, which falls on the 27th day of Nisan on the Hebrew calendar, and coincides with the anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. In Hebrew, the day is known as Yom Hashoah.
