consider. as was mentioned, the ocean is very big and very deep. the acoustical environment that they re operating in is very complicated. the ocean is not uniform. sound does not travel uniformly in water. where they re searching is close to the gulfstream. the gulfstream is a warm current of water that comes up the east coast of the united states. where there is that temperature boundary, sound changes. sometimes it can bend and bounce back. sometimes it can go in a different direction. so it s a very complex environment that they re trying to search as they go in and out. this is part of how submarines hide from each other. it s also, again, excellent training that our submarine fleet has in searching in this environment and frankly understanding the incredible challenge of, you know, the
