On Wednesday, December 23, the TSA screened 1,191,123 people at airport checkpoints nationwide. It s the highest checkpoint volume since March 16, when 1,257,823 people were screened. Despite warnings from the CDC and other agencies against traveling for the holidays, officials say more than 6 million travelers have been screened since Friday, December 18. That s down around 60% from the same time last year, but it amounts to around a million passengers per day, or about what the U.S. saw in the days leading up to Thanksgiving, when some Americans likewise disregarded warnings and ended up contributing to the nationwide surge.

Temperatures are in the 40s across the valley because of clouds sitting over us. A cold front will move through the valley today bringing a decent amount of cloud cover over the valley and a chance of rain and snow over the mountains. Wind will also pick up we could see gusts up to 25 mph this afternoon in the valley. High temperatures will warm to the low to mid 60s which is below average and a mix of sun and clouds. Fresno will reach a high of 64. Rest of the week we will stay dry, sunny, and temperatures will stick to the upper 60s and 70s and warm to the 80s by the weekend.

Accuweather Forecast: Near Record Heat KFSN Temperatures this morning are pretty mild in the 40s and 50s with a clear sky. Current air quality this morning is in the green but we are expecting it to get a bit worse this afternoon. High pressure will still be in place so we will stay dry, sunny, and above average. We will reach the mid to upper 80s across the valley. Fresno will reach a high of 86 which will be just shy of the past record of 90 degrees. Most of the valley will stay just shy of record highs but we won t be far off. Friday is the best chance to break record highs with Fresno forecasting a high of 88 which would break the past record of 87. We will see a minor cool down for our Easter weekend with low 80s Saturday and Sunday. Monday we see a huge drop in temperatures in the 70s and 60s by Tuesday with extra cloud cover.

Big rig spins out due to weather conditions on Highway 99 KFSN Share: FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) Traffic has slowed down near Highway 99 and Highway 180 due to a big rig spinout on Sunday. The California Highway Patrol says it happened on the southbound side of Highway 99. Video from the scene showed the front of the truck down an embankment along the side of the roadway. Caltrans District 6 says only one lane of southbound Highway 99 south of Highway 180 remained open after the accident. No injuries were reported.
