discover it, i understand, until midflight. i don t think any changes have to be made. we don t have to get out the orange cones and the orange barrels and tear up the airport. i think we just have to have people paid a little closer attention when they re boarding an aircraft. there seem to be two problems. at the gate when they were swiping the tickets because clearly a ticket wasn t swiped, and then counting. there appears to be a counting problem. don t they count all souls on board the flight to make sure it matches the number of tickets swiped? they jurally do. you see it happening all the time. what we have is a communication breakdown. occurred at the gate. i know it was 45 years ago that i was a gate agent, but still, numbers are numbers and you need to know how many souls are onboard that plane, so counting and having it break down, i could understand it does happen, but boy, in today s world, in the post-9/11 world, it s really critical that you know exactly
officials in san francisco, the scene itself is secure. tom costello is standing by for us in the bureau down in washington, d.c. captain tom bun, 40 years a pilot, here in the studio with us. tom, let me start with you. 60 people still unaccounted for at this point. boy, that is certainly very distressing. let s hope that this is just an accounting problem with people milling about the terminal. but that is a very that s very concerning, if that s the case. this would go down as a horrific, horrific accident in american history, if that s if those people are perished in that plane. let s hope that they didn t and they are still just trying to get everybody together and count noses. but that s very serious indeed. you know, as we said, that s probably as much as we expect from those local incident commanders who have had their hands full this afternoon. but in terms of the nuts and
by super tuesday we will be right back in the middle. in the news that is damaging to the entire process, pressure is mounting for the main republican party to reconsider the results of the caucus. remember mitt romney narrowly beat ron paul with 39% of the vote, but it s not just that one county whose caucus was delayed where the results were not counted. according to town by town results, some communities that had caucused before february 11th were not counted and nearly all the towns were blanked in the results released by the state party. iowa couldn t figure out how to count. maine is struggling. nevada was not close, but they had a counting problem. don t be surprised if this creates a call to get rid of caucuses and the reason for caucuses is because it does save money. states don t always fund
