There has been no notable change in South Africa's unemployment rate in recent years. Youth unemployment has always been a problem in South Africa, which has a slow-growing economy even before the recent chaos and mayhem. According to STATSSA, the official unemployment rate among young adults (15-34 years) was 46.3 percent in the first quarter of 2021. The rate among university graduates was 9.3%.
