CSPAN3 Discussion On Faith-Based Global Health Care Efforts August 31, 2015

That was an interesting question. You asked about whether there was any differences between the written theology as opposed to a more verbal one. Yeah, the main face that we looked at obviously did have a written. What we didnt look at, and weve actually referred to this in the paper, was the enormous richness of traditional faiths and certainly i can speak mainly in africa, but im sure the truth is in asia where the faiths have been there for years and sometimes in a sink syncrotistic way. More modern faiths such as christianity and islam, we didnt look at those because the diversity of those would have needed a lot more work. All we could see was a very interesting thing, was that there was a considerable enthusiasm among all of the faith leaders for seeing how they could be more involved and actually there was a great opportunity expressed in the work that we did for making faith leaders more aware so that their sacred teachings, the preachings about traditional values could actuall

In the old days they had animal skins to use and there were no modern textiles to repel water or rain or snow. So they would cover their bodies with leather apparel. These are called chaps. I am thrilled to be here and i want to start by thanking all of you and thinking cspan for being here this evening. It is a very exciting time for me. And i think more importantly for our country, we are here this evening with a very important week. We are celebrating some very important times in our history, which

I thank you for raising them yourself. Just so that were clear, mr. Horowitz, am i correct in characterizing our discussion about the correct reading of the Inspector General act as nonpartisan in nature . Correct. All right. We have in our possession several letters written over the course of late 2011 from attorney general eric holder and Deputy Attorney james coal. In each of these letters, over the objection of the fbi General Council, the Department Grants you access to sensitive material. As recently as last thursday and his response to your offices report on material witness statute, the Deputy Attorney general again pledged, quote, to provide your office with access to all materials in to complete our reviews consistent with young. Yes, the departments leadership made clear they will continue to issue orders giving us access. So our issue isnt with getting these documents, its, frankly, the process of played out compromises our independence. Have the attorney general and Deputy

Helpful to you . Yes. In getting us these orders, they have been helpful. In issuing these orders, theyve been helpful in getting us the access. Now, as the only member of the committee that was voted for the 1978 act, i agree wholeheartedly with your testimony. Congress meant what it said in section 6a of the act. Inspector general must be given complete, timely, unfiltered access to agency records. In your opinion, why did the General Council of the fbi feel compelled to arrive at a different interpretation of the same statute . I would be speculating, frac frankly, as to what the motivation was. But theres, i think, its clear as youve indicated from looking at the opinion and you have it, its attached to my statement, that the ig act, i think, trumps the arguments quite clearly. Well, i hope the office of Legal Council issues a strong opinion giving your office unequivocal access to the material and information that you require. And this committee is going to be watching that very c

Have doubled since november 1. No region of our country has been spared. Nbc news has obtained the latest White House Task force report send to state this is week saying the covid risk to allamericans is at a historic high and warns we are in a very dangerous place to the extremely high covid baseline and limited hospital capacity. And just this morning an unvarnished assessment at long last, where we might be headed. This from the cdc director. The reality is that december and january and february are going to be rough times. I actually believe they will be the most difficult time in the Public Health history of the nation. Largely because of the stress that it is going to put on our health care system. We are in that range, potentially now, starting to see 1,500 to 2,000 to 2,500 deaths per day from the virus. I think before we see february, we could be close to 450,000 americans dying from the virus. There was another alarming projection today. Along the same lines from the folks ou
