sandra: president trump heading to nashville, tennessee today expected to address american farmers and lay out an economic roadmap for improving the agricultural industry in this country. those plans reportedly include boosting technology and innovation within rural america. joining me now is charles payne. host of making money with charles payne, thank you for being here this morning. this is a very interesting move by this president, the first time in 26 years that a sitting president has accepted the invitation to speak to this. it is why he was propelled to the white house. you think about the challenges in rural america. population decline, wages lagging, educational crisis, access to capital. how do you revive it. you have the opioid and health crisis and the elites have ignored this and it s great to see president trump addressing it. not just going to speak but
us access to capital. they have a whole wrap around strategy for how they become irresistible. we have to be irresistible to advanced manufacturers in the globe or we are going to lose out. that s what i d like to see is a comprehensive plan from the trump administration. there s one place we know we need to the advanced manufacturing jobs and it s ohio. we have a young man here from ohio. midwest represented again. jake tuckerman, clinton voter, what s your question. thank you for the opportunity to ask a question. it seems over the past few weeks and months that trump s relationship with themidia is becoming increasingly confrontational. i m curious how you think this will affect americans as they search for real truth in the media and also how the repercussions of this will be specifically with the effects this will have on his views against the credibility of the media? i mean, this is such an important question. i hope that you all who are here and the folks are watching
universities, access to capital. we have got win the talent war as well. i think this is a step in that direction. would be great to have people who understand this and there is something about, i mean, i think what we are talking about here is somebody who has a dream, who pursues that dream, hope for success and in the process of pursuing this success if they accomplish that they allow others to lift american dream. and they create that opportunity and who better than an entrepreneur to bring that story of the american dream to washington, d.c.? and lori siegel joining us live now from us a within a special guest. lori? reporter: hey, frederica. joined by the fabulous rob barnett, founder and ceo of my damn channel f you haven t heard of it tell us what is my damn channel for those of us who haven t gone on the site? my damn channel has been around on 2007 and my idea was to get some of the best channel in comedy and create original video and series, like odd he
flow. that s what s happening. there s not access to capital. some of it is available. a lot of small business owners don t have the assets they are capable of lending them on. i m a founder of a small community bank. we raised 30 million bucks to open the bank. we are lending money to people that can repay the debt. tell me, access to capital. the president or romney, who is going to make it better? no question. obama sees the big picture. new techniques have to be created. the banks have strict guidelines. i come from a risk-driven perspective. as an angel investor, we put tons of money to work. why would you not expect money back? we understand the risk.
things that are stopping businesses from hiring. number one, certainty in the market. people are unsure about what kind of regulations are going to be out there, what kind of risk they re going to have to take. second, access to capital. after the barney frank, dodd-frank legislation passed it has been harder for businesses to get access to capital. talk to any employer in the country, they say capital formation is very difficult. this bill goes through chapter and verse. goes through capital formation. makes it easy for businesses to get capital by easing regulations on local community banks that do lending. 390 congressman out of 435 voted for the bill. it is common sense and makes sense. gregg: why did nancy pelosi sort of dismiss it? she called it a little package. she didn t think there was much to it. why? well, obviously she is trying to get back in the majority. and her view of how to turn the economy around is
