Meeting by videoconference on Friday, the Oregon State University Board of Trustees approved construction of a new $70 million arts and education complex to be completed by summer term of 2023.
The Legislature approved $35 million in state bonds for the project in August. The rest of the money is coming from donations, including a $25 million gift from an anonymous benefactor.
After hearing a series of passionate critiques during the public comment section of the virtual meeting, the board settled into business as usual, discussing new construction on campus, a 10-year business forecast, concerns from students and an update on the Elliot State Forest plan.
