Vaccination required for all students in fall 2021
All students coming or returning to campus in fall 2021 will be required to be fully vaccinated with a Food and Drug Administration (FDA) authorized vaccine, according to an email sent to the Brandeis community by Provost and Executive President for Academic Affairs Carol Fierke, Executive Vice President for Finance and Administration Stew Uretsky and Vice President of Student Affairs Raymond Ou. Limited exemptions will be granted to students for medical or religious reasons. More guidance on this is forthcoming, according to their website.
“Vaccines will not enable us to end all additional health precautions and it is imperative that everyone continue following all COVID-19 protocols through the end of this semester as well,” reads the email. “However, a student community that is largely vaccinated will allow us to increase the in-person experiences that we are all longing for next semester.”

In the Senate, April 11
Student Union Vice President Krupa Sourirajan ’23 announced that executive board members will be coming to the Senate for their next meeting, where they will also present the Union budget. Various members of the senior administration attended the Senate meeting to tell the senators about their roles and answer any questions they may have.
University President Ron Liebowitz discussed future fundraising efforts as well as continuing to improve alumni relations. Executive Vice President for Finance and Administration Stew Uretsky told the Senate that a major concern for the university financially is all the repairs to buildings that have been put on hold and have to be addressed.
Univ. encourages community to seek options for vaccination
The university announced that they are trying to provide vaccines to the community directly, but community members should look for an alternative way to get vaccinated, wrote Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs Carol Fierke and Executive Vice President for Administration and Finance Stew Uretsky in an email sent to the Brandeis community on April 8.
On April 19, the state of Massachusetts will open eligibility for the vaccine to anyone 16 years or older who is currently living in the state and does not have any preexisting conditions, according to the Massachusetts COVID-19 vaccine page. However, vaccine demand is high, making it difficult to obtain, Fierke and Uretsky wrote in the email.
