2008, found more than 42 domestic workers alleged that they were abused by their former diplomat employers since 2000 but the actual number is likely much, much higher, since many victims are too afraid to come forward. joining me now is martina vandenburg, president of the human trafficking pro bono legal center. are you surprised by how much attention has been given to how the diplomat was treated at the hands of the u.s. martials as opposed to what she s accused of doing? not surprised but utterly disappointed because the real focus should really be on the housekeeper, the domestic worker who was brought over to the united states on a special visa and then treated abysmally. almost like an indentured servant. the criminal complaint here does not say this is trafficking but it does allege very serious crimes, lying to the federal government and committing visa fraud and putting this person in a situation of a true labor exploitation. let s be frank here. the reason why the
9:00 in the morning. i got there at 8:00. i was the first reporter to see the film. i saw it with two secret service agents, which i tell you was a very chilling moment. to see it with two men who had been responsible for the president s safety and had failed abysmally. it s an extraordinary book as abby said visually and the writing, one of the things, the birth of camelot, we think of jfk and jackie and kids as camelot, but it s really theodore white, the great presidential chronicler who pushed that idea in his essay that followed the president s death and years afterward, teddy and jackie would look back and say, maybe a bit much. he came to dismiss the idea of equating kennedy years with a myth of camelot. jackie admits that the
siskal for actually having a dialogue in which people just didn t say i liked it. well i liked it too. i mean, it was actually, you could actually dig in. i think one thing roger had, he didn t have a particularly strong aesthetic. what he did have which i m sure we all envy who are on television is the ability to begin a paragraph and know exactly what he is going to say at the end of the paragraph. the man fought and spoke in paragraphs and he could really he was a great teacher. he could kind of lead you into something and make you experience it with him and do a good reporter s job of, you know, telling you exactly what it s about which most of us fail at abysmally. what will be his legacy do you believe? well, i think it s that. i think he, in the beginning he and gene siskal used to be on tv and everybody knew they kind of loathed each other and used to
they will all survive because people want them to survive. the idea of borrowing money from the chinese to give to big bird is absurd . it is like watching the fiasco you are seeing in new jersey and new york. this is the second major crisis with the department of homeland security failed abysmally. it needs to be overhalled because it is incapable. neil: what did you make of the congressman telling me 12 or 14 billion more to fema? guest: if you are a liberal democrat you want to spend more and you would like to spend more last week on something else and if you are a liberal democrat you want bigger government with more unionized employees and that is the model of the world you believe in. and look at new jersey and new york. in the absence of an intelligent affective plan, we are giving away gasoline and
