Youth gets life term for raping mentally challenged girl in Barishal Star Online Report Star Online Report A youth was sentenced to life term imprisonment today for raping a mentally challenged girl in Barishal s Muladi upazila. Judge Abu Shamim Azad of Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal handed down the punishment in the presence of the accused Shariful Islam Mursalin. The court also fined the accused Tk one lakh, said Advocate Faizul Haque, special public prosecutor of the court. According to the case statement, the accused raped the victim after finding her alone at her home on April 26, 2016. The victim s mother filed a rape case against the accused with Muladi Police Station on April 28, 2016. Police pressed charges before the court on July 10 of the same year.
