Palestinian killed in illegal Israeli settlement in West Bank

An unarmed Palestinian man has been shot and killed by Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank, according to the Israeli military and Palestinian media. Israeli settlers opened fire and killed Khaled Nofal, 34, on Friday near the Palestinian village of Ras Karkar, northwest of the West Bank city of Ramallah, the official Palestinian news agency WAFA reported. The Israeli military referred to the incident as a “terror attack”, but a spokesman was unable to explain how it came to that conclusion, given no weapons were found on the suspect or in his car. The military said the suspect fought with a guard, who was also unarmed, before being shot and killed by another guard and a third individual.

LEBANON: Lebanese publisher and critic of the Shi’ite Hezbollah militia Lokman Slim has been found shot dead in his car. Coroner Afif Khafajeh said there were six bullets in Mr Slim’s body. His phone, ID and gun were missing. Mr Slim’s sister Rasha al-Amir said she had no faith in official investigations and the family would seek its own probe.  The Lebanese Communist Party called for an end to political assassinations and demanded the swift apprehension and punishment of the killers.
