Litigants allowed to file online forms to appeal against verdicts of the Court of First Instance.
Abu Dhabi residents can now appeal against rulings by the Court of First Instance by filing online forms in English or Arabic, without seeking help from lawyers, an official said.
The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) has launched a set of user-friendly Court of Appeal smart e-forms to provide easier access to justice for litigants, who wish to appeal against the court’s verdicts.
The e-forms help cut down on paper use and also reduce language barriers because they are bilingual (Arabic and English).
Abu Dhabi: The former director of an Abu Dhabi-based drilling company has been cleared of charges that accused him of embezzling Dh17 million.
The company had filed a lawsuit against their former executive, alleging that he had transferred the funds from the company’s accounts to unknown parties.
According to court records, the professional denied the charges. His lawyer said that there was no legal evidence to charge her client, and that the lawsuit was therefore malicious in intent. She further requested a three-member panel to investigate the charges, including the company’s accounts, and determine whether the transferred sums of money constituted any theft or not.

The husband appealed the judgment and denied the charges against him.
Ali Al Mansouri, the defendant’s lawyer, confirmed the absence of evidence that the crime was committed by his client.
“The wife accused her husband of changing the passwords of the accounts she uses, but the fact is that those accounts are registered in his name and linked to her account, and this is insufficient evidence that he did deliberately to prevent her from accessing them,” the lawyer said.
