Dallas man charged in deadly shooting

DALLAS - A man was arrested for the shooting death of a woman at a west Oak Cliff apartment complex.
Dallas police said 27-year-old DeMarcus Jackson shot Briana Johnson on Monday.
She died at a hospital after being found wounded near the Oak Cliff Nature Preserve.
Her accused killer is being held in the Dallas County jail. He’s charged with murder.

Man appears in court after being accused of strangling woman, leading troopers on chase with her body in trunk

Victor Charles Campbell Jr. was charged with murder after police said they made the grisly discovery after he led them on a chase in Beaumont with Johnson s body in the trunk.
Campbell, 25, is charged with murder. On Nov. 28, authorities said Texas Department of Public Safety troopers attempted to pull Campbell over because of his reckless driving. Campbell then led troopers on a chase. When the chase came to an end, authorities said they discovered Johnson s body in the trunk.
Briana Johnson was found dead after a police chase. Now, the suspect s charging documents are uncovering what led to the grisly discovery.
The cameras captured what appeared to be the last signs of Johnson alive when she arrived home in her Honda, which investigators said was the vehicle involved in the chase, at about 5:27 p.m. that evening.
Documents then state cameras captured another woman arriving at the apartment about five-and-a-half hours later. This woman then leaves 15 minutes later.
According to investigators, this woman told them that she saw Campbell at the unit but did not see Johnson. The unidentified woman also said she smelled a strong odor of cleaning products when Campbell came out of a bedroom.
