Punch Newspapers Sections Abiodun Nejo, Ado Ekiti  LEADERS of the Ekiti State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party have agreed to sheath their swords and allow peace to reign in the interest of the party. The party had been polarized along the lines of loyalty to former Governor Ayodele Fayose and Senator Biodun Olujimi. This was made known via a statement signed by Fayose’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, in Ado Ekiti, on Tuesday. Olayinka said the feuding party leaders took the decision to let peace reign after a recent meeting in Lagos. The spokesman also listed party leaders who attended the peace meeting to include: Senator Duro Faseyi, Chief Dipo Anisulowo, Otunba Yinka Akerele, Tunji Odeyemi, Gboyega Oguntuase, Alhaji Lateef Ajijola, Deji Ogunsakin and Mrs Funmi Ogun.

Punch Newspapers Sections our correspondents States on Tuesday started receiving their consignments of the  Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine with Lagos collecting 507,000 doses,  Nasarawa, 61,000; Ekiti,  52,960 and Ondo,  75,570. Officials of the states disclosed these figures to The PUNNCH  in separate interviews just as one of our correspondents gathered that between 150,000 and 160,000 doses would be given to Katsina State. Recall that the Federal Government  on Tuesday last week received  3.94 million doses of the  vaccine from  COVAX facility, an initiative co-led by the Vaccine Alliance, GAVI and the World Health Organisation. On Monday,  50,000 doses of the vaccine were given to  Ogun State by the Federal Government.

Punch Newspapers Sections Abiodun Nejo, Ado Ekiti Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, said on Wednesday that the state government had put in place measures that would ensure that Ekiti residents had equitable access to the COVID-19 vaccines. Fayemi urged Ekiti residents and indeed all Nigerians to disregard any unfounded theories about the efficacy and effects of the vaccines on them, saying, “We should not introduce unnecessary sentiments to the health and well-being of our people for whatever reasons.” The Governor spoke in Ado Ekiti during the flag-off of COVID-19 vaccination in the state, stressing that “all hands must be on deck to ensure all indigenes know that the vaccine is safe.”
