Fighting to keep fit for as long as possible. Westway club has been Training Boxers for three decades in scarborough, but this is a new group of fighters facing a different kind of battle. Everyone here has parkinsons. Its a heavyweight opponent, but theyre slowing down its progress through boxing. You start to learn your balance quite early on. You get the coordination and the strength builds up. Of course, once you can do that, you can punch harder. So i think it affects all of those things. And theyre very important because what parkinsons does is take away the ability of the mind to control the body, basically. And so you need to find new ways of doing it. Feet, hands.
