Authorities have started transferring patients who are not in critical condition and new admissions to the Civil Hospital located nearby to ease the burden on the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital in Kalwa, Thane. The move comes after the hospital saw 18 patients die in 24 hours. The Kalwa hospital is treating almost 600 patients per day, beyond its 500-patient capacity, with the Civil Hospital under renovation.
