Share Via Email   |  A+A A- By Express News Service BHUBANESWAR: President of India Ram Nath Kovind has approved the compulsory retirement of suspended IFS officer Abhay Kanta Pathak who has been accused in a high profile job scam by the Crime Branch and is in judicial custody since November, 2020. As part of its zero tolerance policy towards corruption, Odisha government had recommended to the Centre in December, 2020 for compulsory retirement of Pathak. The State Vigilance had also charged him for amassing wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income.Official sources said the President of India has approved compulsory retirement of Pathak from service accepting the recommendation of the State government.

62 Bhubaneswar: The turn of Abhay Kanta Pathak has come after junior Pathak being sent to jail. Kharavel Nagar police have taken Abhaya Kanta on a two-day remand. Sources said the suspended IFS officer was being questioned to find out his links with Skyking. The SDJM court has allowed the cops to take him on remand. Police sources said that Abhay Kanta is being quizzed to find out his links with fraudulent activity with Tata Motors and MLA Pradip Panigrahy. Worthwhile to mention that Akash is currently languishing in jail for the alleged Rs 65 lakh fraud of Skyking. He has been sent to jail after being interrogated for four days.

Expelled BJD MLA booked for job fraud According to police, Akash had used a fake logo and stamp of Tata Motors to impersonate as the MD of Tata Motors, passenger division, Pune An expelled Biju Janata Dal MLA and his would-be son-in-law have been booked for cheating people by falsely assuring them jobs.  The Odisha crime branch said that Akash Pathak, the would-be son-in-law of expelled Gopalpur MLA Pradeep Panigrahi, had posed as a managing director of Tata Motors, and he and the politician had collected money by falsely promising jobs to youths.  Akash, son of IFS officer Abhay Kant Pathak who is in jail in a disproportionate assets case, has been taken into five days’ custody. Panigrahi is also in jail.
