Wales’ largest youth organisation has appointed its new President. Mared Edwards from Porth Swtan, Anglesey, has been unveiled as Urdd Gobaith Cymru’s President for the next two years. The Aberystwyth University student currently in the middle of her final degree year is not known for resting on her laurels. During her school years, she was the Ambassador for the Urdd in Ysgol Uwchradd Bodedern and Chair of the Anglesey Youth Forum, before being elected Vice-Chair of Bwrdd Syr IfanC (the Urdd’s National Youth Forum) in 2018. She also held a part-time job as a Urdd Youth Officer in Ceredigion whilst studying Welsh and Drama at university, before the pandemic brought the work to a halt.
