South Harbor expansion nears completion December 17, 2020, by Eldin Ganic
The £350 million Aberdeen Harbor Expansion Project is in the “final sprint” towards a phased opening next year.
The project, which is the largest marine infrastructure project underway in the UK, is 70 per cent through construction, following commencement at the start of 2017.
Once complete, Aberdeen Harbor will be the largest berthage port in Scotland and will welcome vessels up to 300 meters in length.
Keith Young, AHEP Project Director, said: “Since taking over the site in May, we have seen considerable progress and overcome several engineering challenges. Much of the 70% of progress involves dredging work below the water line and construction of the North Breakwater and fixed quay areas.
