Cuba launches book of Raul Castro s public speeches

Havana, June 3 (IANS): A book of public speeches, statements and interviews given by former Cuban President Raul Castro to the press was launched here.
Broadcast by the state TV, the launch event on Wednesday was attended by incumbent President Miguel Diaz-Canel and other senior officials, reports Xinhua news agency.
Addressing the audience, Abel Prieto, president of the Casa de las Americas cultural institution, said that this book was a present to mark Castro s 90th birthday on Thursday.
Titled The Revolution: the most beautiful work , Prieto said that this book covers more than a decade of transcendental events for the nation , adding it is to become a must reading for all Cubans .

With the work Luis Manuel-Boitel (2020) the visual artist Jesús Hdez-Güero, based in Madrid, joins the support
of a wide swathe of the Cuban artistic community for Luis Manuel Otero Alcántara, who in the last six months has gone on two hunger strikes to demand
freedom of creation and an end to the repression of dissenters.

Havana, May 7 (Prensa Latina) The president of Casa de las Americas, Abel Prieto, on Friday reiterated the entity s support for Colombian promoters of peace, justice and dignity for all.
On Twitter, the Cuban intellectual attached importance to the growing international repudiation against the repression of the Duque government against the civilian population in the main cities.
Prieto also alluded to the press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the ambassador of Bogota in Havana referring to the declaration of the Cuban diplomat Omar Rafael Garcia Lazo as persona non grata in Colombia, which reiterates the serious and rigorous commitment of Cuban diplomats with the obligations of the Vienna Convention.

Havana, Apr 27 (Prensa Latina) Minister of Culture Alpidio Alonso recalled the 54th anniversary of the Cuban Book Institute, the governing body of literary production in Cuba. Alonso wrote on Twitter echoing the hashtag #LeerEsCrecer ( reading is growing ) and forwarded the congratulations to the founders, writers, editors and other workers of the book system in the country.
The celebration of the institute s anniversary contemplates a wide range of activities on Tuesday, including the presentation of a book on Universal History, by Eduardo Torres Cuevas, and a concert by Ireno Garcia with musicalized poems written by Eliseo Diego.

Mexico, Apr 25 (Prensa Latina) With a lecture entitled 60 Years of the Victory in Giron (Bay of Pigs), by combatant Alcides de la Rosa, the final session of the 25th National Cuba Solidarity Meeting started here on Sunday.
De la Rosa told stories and presented testimonies about his participation in the first military defeat of the Government of the United States in Latin America, and described shocking scenes of the courage and patriotism of militiamen, police officers and soldiers from the Rebel Army, who defeated the invaders in less than 72 hours.
