Filipino star midlaner Abed Azel “Abed” Yusop is raring to rebound after Evil Geniuses suffered a depressing 3-2 reverse sweep defeat at the hands of Invictus Gaming in the ONE Esports Singapore Major grand finals on Sunday night, April 4.
“Ty (thank you) sa lahat ng sumuporta at nanood. Bawi kami next LAN (Thank you to all those who supported us and watched. We’re gonna bounce back in the next LAN tournament),” Abed said through his verified Facebook account.
Like EG and his carry teammate Artour “Arteezy” Babaev, Abed came oh so close to winning his first Dota 2 Major title after taking a commanding 2-0 series lead only to fall short against iG’s furious comeback.
Filipino star midlaner Abed Azel “Abed” Yusop is set for a return to the Southeast Asia region.
That’s because Abed and the Evil Geniuses secured their spot in the Singapore Major after ruling the three-way tiebreaker at the top of the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC)-North America Upper Division on Monday, March 1 (Manila time).
Abed, the first 11K MMR player in the world, powered EG to a smashing 24-3 victory over Undying as his Storm Spirit went perfect with eight kills and 11 assists in just 31 minutes.
The TI5-winning organization then leaned on Abed’s fellow 11K MMR carry Artour “Arteezy” Babaev’s monstrous Alchemist who came through with 15 kills and 11 assists with no deaths in a vengeful 35-22 win against Quincy Crew in 38 minutes.

Legendary North American esports organization Evil Geniuses revealed on Thursday the first-ever mixed-gender roster in Valorant and it included US-based Filipino player Ronan Jeremiah “Osias” Javelona.
EG made the announcement through a video posted on its social media pages as the organization finally ventured into Riot Games’ fast-growing first-person shooting title.

“This team is not like the others. We’re building a Valorant squad and we’re doing things our way,” the team said in the video. “This team represents the best in every single one of us.”
